Wake Forest Panel Nov. 5: Organized Crime, Environmental Chaos

How does the disruption of traditional governance frameworks impact ecological, social, and societal systems? On November 5, Steve will tackle this complex issue through the lens of illegal gold mining in the Amazon in a panel discussion at “Sustainable Just & Abundantly Wild: Resilient Leadership for Our Era,” a conference organized by The Sabin Center for the Environment and Sustainability at Wake Forest University.

His fellow panelists will include Luis Fernandez, Executive Director of Wake Forest’s Center for Amazonian Scientific Innovation (CINCIA); Todd Schoenberger, Acting Section Chief of the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Natural Resources and Extractive Commodities (NREC) Section, housed within the Trade Fraud Unit (TFU); and Julia Yansura, Program Director for Environmental Crime and Illicit Finance at the Financial Accountability and Corporate Transparency (FACT) Coalition.

The full-day conference, which will feature a keynote by Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet, is free and open to the public. Learn more and register here.
